Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui|Zuni Icosahedron - Chinese Xiqu x Phnom Penh ICH Performing Arts Guided Performance

Description
Chinese national treasure Peking opera was selected to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010. Similarly, Cambodia's classical dance holds a prestigious position in religious ceremonies at royal temples and various district shrines.
Lakhaon khaol (masked dance) is one of Cambodia's oldest performing arts, originating from the Angkor period.
Rady Nget from Phnom Penh specialises in the monkey dance of traditional Cambodian masked dance, while Ren Jiale from Beijing focuses on the wusheng (martial) role in Peking opera. This collaboration highlights the fundamental skills of acting and martial arts from the four pillars of Chinese opera—singing, reciting, acting, and martial arts—alongside Cambodian classical masked dance. By comparing these two forms of intangible cultural heritage, audiences can gain a deeper appreciation for the transmission and innovation of both traditional cultures.
Conducted in Cantonese, Mandarin and English with Cantonese interpretation.
